“Hi, I’d like to get some information about guided bike tours in Rome…”
It’s a question we receive very often — and we completely understand it.
A bike tour is not a museum visit, nor just a casual ride: it’s a different kind of experience, and for this very reason it’s normal to want to know how it works, who it’s suitable for, and what to expect.
With this article we try to clarify everything, following the same kind of conversation we usually have by phone or message with people who contact us: Romans who want to rediscover their city from a new point of view, and travellers who want to get off the beaten track and experience a more authentic Rome.
What kind of guided tours do we offer?
Let’s start with a key point: our guided tours are private.
This means that:
- you create your own small group (minimum 2 people),
- the group is made only of friends, family or colleagues who already know each other,
- the guide rides only with you, not with mixed groups.
We usually work with groups of 2 to 6 people, sometimes up to 8, because we believe that:
- smaller groups mean higher quality,
- more attention to each participant,
- better safety,
- a more relaxed and personalised experience.

How a tour is organised: step by step
Once the group is formed (couples, families, friends, colleagues…), we define a few key things together.
📅 The date
Tours run:
- from Monday to Saturday,
- on Sundays on request.
⏱️ The duration
There are two main options:
- Half-day tour
Ideale se:- è la prima esperienza
- ci sono bambini
- si vuole un giro più rilassato
- Giornata intera
Perfetta se:- si vuole uscire dalla città
- si ha voglia di esplorare zone più lontane
- si prevede una sosta pranzo “mangereccia” lungo il percorso
In questo caso possiamo anche occuparci del trasporto delle bici.
The route: we build it together

This is the most important part.
We talk with you to understand:
- what you would like to see,
- where you would like to ride,
- what kind of experience you are looking for.
The options are endless:
- giri prevalentemente nei parchi cittadini (come Villa Doria Pamphilj)
- exploring specific neighbourhoods (Historic Centre, Testaccio, Garbatella…),
- less touristy but fascinating areas (Città Giardino, Triangolo Verde, Parioli),
- or simply discovering parts of Rome you have never seen before.
The route is always custom-made, based on your needs and on our deep knowledge of Rome’s cycling network and the less obvious connections between neighbourhoods.
Choosing the right bike
Once the route and duration are defined, we select (or recommend) the most suitable bike for your tour. scegliamo noi per voi) la bici più adatta.

For example
- easy urban routes → e-city or e-trekking bikes,
- parks and dirt paths → e-mountain bikes.
Il cliente non deve preoccuparsi di nulla:
ci basta sapere l’altezza precisa di tutti i partecipanti
(altezza, non età dei bambini… questo lo diciamo per tutte le mamme 😉).
What about children?
We have many solutions for kids, but an important distinction must be made.
If the tour is in parks or nearby green area (such as Riserva dell’Aniene, Parco di Aguzzano, Parco della Cervelletta, Villa Ada, Villa Borghese…),
...the experience is easy, fun and highly recommended.
If the tour goes farther and includes traffic or more complex routes,
children must already be confident riders.
For kids who are not fully independent
- we can provide child seats or trailer bikes (up to about 130–140 cm and 30 kg).
- In these cases we recommend half-day tours (around 4 hours).

👉 Il tema bambini è molto ampio e importante: per questo lo approfondiremo in un articolo dedicato.
Who is the guide (and why it matters)
Our tours are led by certified Environmental Hiking Guides (Guide Ambientali Escusionistiche AIGAE)..
They are not standard tourist guides, but professionals specialised in:
- environment,
- landscape,
- reading and interpreting the territory (even in urban areas).
During the tou our guide:
- leads you along the best route,
- helps in case of small mechanical issues,
- gives practical advice on cycling in the city,
- helps you understand Rome from the point of view of mobility and landscape.
We like to think that, when they come back, our guests:
- feel more confident on the bike
- have gained new skills
- have discovered a different side of Rome
- feel inspired to ride again, even on their own
Find out why the guide really makes the difference in our tours..
